Incident Learning, Shift Handover and Change Control
Use independent incident, handover and change cases to distinguish physical completion from verified readiness. During a modification at Cell C20, the incoming shift faces production pressure while a functional check remains outstanding. Learners practise two-way handover, current-status checks and a release decision based on the supplied evidence.
Value for your training programme
Provides a structured capstone for manufacturing awareness, bringing together communication, unresolved controls and learning from events without injury.
Suggested audience
Manufacturing shift teams, supervisors and staff involved in operational change.
Learning objectives
- Recognise why near misses and incident evidence should be recorded and reviewed rather than ignored when no injury occurs.
- Use a structured, two-way handover that carries forward outstanding hazards, restrictions, maintenance and abnormal conditions.
- Identify when a process, layout, role, equipment or control change needs assessment before normal work continues.
- Distinguish work completed or information passed on from verified readiness and authorised return to service.
- Record factual evidence, assigned follow-up and current status so learning is carried into future work.
Seven-section learning path
- Learn from events and carry information forward
- Inspect incident, handover and change situations
- Build a reliable shift handover
- Review change before release
- A change at Cell C20
- Close the loop and confirm readiness

How learners work through the package
Learners read the supplied workplace conditions, examine six observation cases, answer practice questions and follow a branching scenario. They then complete an untimed ten-question assessment across five learning outcomes and review explanatory feedback. The package learning threshold is 80%; it is not a competence or legal-certification standard.
Learning controls and reporting
UK and US English browser narration, playback controls and transcripts accompany the written UK-English content. Text enlargement, high contrast, reduced motion, keyboard-operable controls and fullscreen support are included. Fullscreen and voice availability depend on the receiving environment.
Learners can review results, outcome scores, response explanations and optional reflection notes, with print, JSON and CSV outputs. Authorised facilitators use the receiving Moodle’s SCORM attempt, interaction and objective reports. A consolidated cross-course reporting dashboard is not included.
Delivery and requirements
A standalone SCORM 1.2 learning package intended for upload into your own Moodle site. A Moodle course, permission to add activities, appropriate settings and receiving-site testing are required. Hosting, enrolment administration, practical training, accreditation, update entitlement and support are not included unless the final product offer explicitly says otherwise. Confirm the product’s permitted use, licence and included files before purchase.
Important scope
This learning resource provides awareness and decision practice about near-miss learning, shift handover and workplace change control. It does not replace the receiving organisation’s incident-investigation process, permit-to-work system, management-of-change procedure, risk assessment, technical verification, supervision or practical training. Follow current local procedures and authorised role boundaries.
