Tools, Temporary Power and Damage Reporting
Examine hand-tool, guard, cable and protective-device cases, then compare earlier checked conditions with a proposed wet or traffic-exposed location. At Site E27, a damaged lead and uncertain circuit status require escalation. A later cordless-tool release does not clear the original tool, suspect circuit or unrelated work.
Value for your training programme
Gives teams a structured way to communicate defects and equipment restrictions without prescribing electrical design, testing or repair procedures.
Suggested audience
Construction tools assistants, equipment users and supervisors receiving defect reports.
Learning objectives
- Recognise task, material, user, accessory and control requirements before selecting a tool or power source.
- Identify hand-tool and electrical-equipment concerns without treating a previous inspection as proof of present condition.
- Distinguish a suitable tool from a checked supply, protected cable route and suitable working environment.
- Recognise the limits of protective devices and avoid improvised repairs, bypasses and unauthorised reconnection.
- Record facts and restrictions, escalate urgently where needed and distinguish a replacement-tool release from clearance of a faulty circuit.
Seven-section learning path
- Choose the tool and method
- Inspect tool and temporary-power cases
- Check supply and changed conditions
- Keep safeguards and power controls effective
- A damaged lead at Site E27
- Report defects and confirm the scope
- Check your learning
How learners work through the package
Learners read the supplied workplace conditions, examine six observation cases, answer practice questions and follow a branching scenario. They then complete an untimed ten-question assessment across five learning outcomes and review explanatory feedback. The package learning threshold is 80%; it is not a competence or legal-certification standard.
Learning controls and reporting
UK and US English browser narration, playback controls and transcripts accompany the written UK-English content. Text enlargement, high contrast, reduced motion, keyboard-operable controls and fullscreen support are included. Fullscreen and voice availability depend on the receiving environment.
Learners can review results, outcome scores, response explanations and optional reflection notes, with print, JSON and CSV outputs. Authorised facilitators use the receiving Moodle’s SCORM attempt, interaction and objective reports. A consolidated cross-course reporting dashboard is not included.
Delivery and requirements
A standalone SCORM 1.2 learning package intended for upload into your own Moodle site. A Moodle course, permission to add activities, appropriate settings and receiving-site testing are required. Hosting, enrolment administration, practical training, accreditation, update entitlement and support are not included unless the final product offer explicitly says otherwise. Confirm the product’s permitted use, licence and included files before purchase.
Important scope
This is awareness and decision practice, not practical tool training, electrical inspection, a permit or permission to work. It does not authorise tool operation, wiring, testing, isolation, repairs, resetting protective devices, battery intervention or electrical rescue. Follow the actual task assessment, manufacturer instructions and competent, authorised site arrangements.
